Message from the Dean: Jurist in Residence Program

April 12, 2021

Aloha All-

We hope you are well, and we thank you for your continued support of the Law School ‘Ohana. We have good news and promising news to report.

First, the good news. Our featured Jurist, Judge Ketaniji Brown Jackson has been nominated to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals by President Joe Biden. Unfortunately, this means Judge Jackson will need to withdraw as the Paul and Karen Sullivan Jurist In-Residence, as she will be busy appearing before the U.S. Senate for her confirmation hearings, and thus the April 23, 2021 events will be cancelled.

Second, the promising news. Judge Jackson hopes to join us as a Jurist in Residence in the near future, and the Law School sends our congratulations and best wishes on her nomination. You can read about Judge Jackson’s nomination here. https://www.npr.org/2021/03/30/977919229/ketanji-brown-jackson-bidens-pick-is-viewed-as-potential-supreme-court-justice

Third, for more exciting news, we are happy to announce that we are already in the planning stages for the Paul and Karen Sullivan Jurist in Residence Program for Fall 2022.  We are excited to announce a virtual visit with United States Supreme Court Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Justice Sotomayor previously participated in our Jurist in Residence program in 2012.  Many in the legal community remember her visit fondly. Justice Sotomayor's impact, insight, and engagement will not soon be forgotten in our legal community. We are grateful for the many connections she made with the Richardson ‘Ohana and other members of the Bar, and we look forward to welcoming her back to Richardson Law!

More details to come as the planning progresses.

Thank you all,

Dean Camille Nelson
