ELP 30th Anniversary | William S. Richardson School of Law

ELP 30th Anniversary

Friday, April 9, 2021 - 9:00am to 12:45pm

The Environmental Law Program (ELP) at the William S. Richardson School of Law is excited to continue its 30th Anniversary spring celebrations.  Please join us! 1.  Hāʻupu ʻĀina Aloha: Re-Envisioning ELP, 30th Anniversary Conference, April 9, 9 am to 12:45 pm.  2 CLE credits available. Registration is free.  RSVP here.  This event will gather ELP alumni, students, faculty, and friends to reconnect, learn, and discuss the future of ELP.  Our Keynote/Speakers include: Hawai'i's own senior U.S. Senator Brian Schatz; Shalanda Baker, the first Deputy Director for Energy Justice & Secretary's Advisor on Equity at the U.S. Department of Energy; and Julia Olson, lead plaintiffsʻ attorney in the Juliana v. United States climate case.  ELP founder Casey Leigh will cap the morning by leading a discussion on the next evolution of ELP, environmental law education, and professional responsibility (joined by her successors, former Associate Dean Denise Antolini and current ELP Director David M. Forman).  2.  Help build the ELP 30th Anniversary Student Endowment.  Many thanks to everyone who helped launch ELP's student endowment to build a sustainable financial future for ELP's student-centered initiatives.  Your generous support during last year's drive succeeded in raising over $24,000 toward the $100,000 goal.  Please DONATE today.   3.  Support the student TikTok-Athon!  ELP's ever-creative students have launched their own social media drive to celebrate the 30th Anniversary and build the student endowment.  Through hard work and persuasion, they have convinced over 20 Richardson faculty members to create fun videos to share online.  New videos will be released weekly, based on a series of challenges.  This week, the students will unlock a video of ELP Director David M. Forman when they receive 1,000 likes on ELP's Instagram and Facebook pages.  Will he dance?  Will he sing?  The only way to find out is by reaching the goal.  Please like and share widely!
