Ms. Schipani's primary research interests are in the area of corporate governance, with a focus on the relationship among directors, officers, shareholders and other stakeholders. She has served as the Louis and Myrtle Moskowitz Research Professor in Law and Business and as Co-director of the University of Michigan Ross School of Business Corporate Governance Project sponsored by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation as well as held appointments as a visiting scholar at the University of Sydney Faculty of Law, China University of Law and Political Science, University of Western Sydney Faculty of Law, and Erasmus University.  She has received numerous awards for her research, including the Academy of Legal Studies in Business National Award for Excellence and its Holmes-Cardozo Research Award.  Prior to joining the faculty of the University of Michigan, Ms. Schipani practiced law with two major commercial law firms (Sidley Austin in Chicago and Dickinson Wright in Detroit).
