Jocelyn W.C. Chong

Jocelyn began her legal career as a law clerk to two federal judges: the Hon. Nanette K. Laughrey, U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Missouri, and the Hon. Cecilia M. Altonaga, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Florida.  She returned to Hawaiʻi as a deputy with the Department of the Attorney General, State of Hawaiʻi, Education Division.  In this capacity, she largely served as litigation counsel at state administrative hearings and in federal and state courts. She then served as a law clerk to the Hon. Sabrina S. McKenna, Associate Justice of the Hawaiʻi Supreme Court. 

Currently, Jocelyn serves in the chambers of the Hon. Jill A. Otake, U.S. District Judge for the District of Hawaii, and lectures with Honolulu Community College’s speech department. Her primary legal interests include ERISA, pension and employment, tax, property, and trusts and estates. Jocelyn also has a passion for writing, having served as Editor in Chief of the Washington University Global Studies Law Review.

Outside the law, Jocelyn is a triathlete. Her proudest achievements include competing in the 2016 Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona.
