Biography

Nam serves as a Director at Hawaii Medical Services Association (HMSA), Hawaii’s most experienced health plan in the State, where he leads both the Federal Employee Program and Inter-Plan Program areas.  Born in Macau and raised in Hawaii, Nam received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems from the University of Hawaii Shidler College of Business and his law degree from the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law. While in law school, Namexterned for the Honorable Karen M. Radius and worked at Na Loio Immigrant Rights and Public InterestLegal Center, now known as the Hawaii Immigrant Justice Center at the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii. Upon graduating from law school, Nam clerked for the Honorable Michael D. Wilson. Prior to joining HMSA in 2010, Nam worked as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the City and County of Hawaii. In addition to his professional career, Nam devotes a considerable amount of time to pro bono matters and serving the community as a member of the Advocates for Public Interest Law (APIL) and the Board of Bar Examiners of the Hawaii Supreme Court. He also regularly facilitates trainings related to contemporary healthcare topics in Hawaii for community groups and nonprofits.
