Biography

Spencer Kimura returned to the University of Hawaiʻi in Fall 2004, to run the law school's Master of Laws (LLM) Program and the Hawaiʻi Summer Law Program. While managing these programs, he helped establish three new programs: the Advanced JD Program, the SJD Program, and the Visiting International Professionals Program. Spencer also runs the International Visiting Scholar Program, which brings international faculty to the Law School to conduct collaborative research with Richardson faculty.
 
Kimura is also the Director of the Law Study Tour, which is a non-degree, two-week legal training program for 50 law students and faculty from five different Japanese universities, including Aichi University, Aoyama Gakuin University, Meiji University, the University of the Ryukyus, and Waseda University.
 
Previously, he served as Executive Director of the inaugural LLM Program and Summer Law & English Program at the University of Southern California Law School. Before that, he worked at USC's IBEAR MBA Program. He has also lived in Japan for over three years, working as an International Publicity Officer at Kobe Steel, Ltd., doing an internship at Anderson Mori (law firm), and studying abroad at Nanzan University and at Sophia University. Spencer is fluent in Japanese and has traveled to over 35 countries in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
