Notes

Classes will be held on February 25, 26, March 1, 3, 4, 15, and 17. Following the flow of financial transactions has proven to be one of the world’s most effective tools in combatting money laundering, terrorist financing and other financial crimes that threaten global peace and security. 9/11 led many countries to institute laws and regulations requiring banks and other financial institutions to design sophisticated technology and methodologies to identify suspicious patterns buried within millions of financial transactions. Compliance departments in financial institutions must identify and report suspicious activities to federal Financial Intelligence Units and partner closely with state and federal intelligence and law enforcement communities to prevent, detect and deter financial transactions that facilitate criminal activity. This course will teach you about the governing laws, how to apply them and how thousands of lawyers are making careers out of this meaningful and important area of the law.
