Short Course (8 classes- Feb. 10, 12, 14, 19, 21, 24, 26, 28). This course intends to give the students the basic understanding of the law and practice of international commercial arbitration. Arbitration is the standard method of dispute settlement in international business, but it is full of theoretical and practical problems. The course will cover all important issues of arbitration law, such as arbitration agreement, arbitrator, arbitration proceedings, arbitral award, setting-aside and enforcement of arbitral award, lawyer’s role in arbitration, as well as arbitration in Japan.
