Anne Murphy

Anne Murphy was born and brought up in England, and graduated from Emmanuel College, Cambridge with a first class degree in philosophy. She won a John F. Kennedy Memorial Scholarship to pursue post-graduate study at Harvard, and later graduated first in her class from the University of Baltimore School of Law, where she was a student in the Evening Division. After appellate and federal district court clerkships, Ms. Murphy in 1996 joined the Appellate Staff of the Civil Division of the United States Department of Justice (https://www.justice.gov/civil/appellate-staff). The Staff handles a broad range of civil appeals involving the United States and its departments and agencies, and works with the Office of the Solicitor General when civil cases are heard in the Supreme Court.
