Rebecca (Becky) Gardner '06

Becky is a 2006 graduate of the William S. Richardson School of Law with a certificate in Pacific-Asian Legal Studies.  She received her undergraduate degree in Social Work from Cornell University, and is licensed to practice law in the States of Hawaiʻi and New York. 

Since graduating from Richardson, Becky has worked in all three branches Hawaii's state government.  She is currently in civil service at the Office of Language Access working in civil rights compliance to ensure those with limited English proficiency (LEP) gain meaningful “Language Access” to the services, programs, and activities provided by state and state-funded agencies.  Prior to that, her legal experience includes positions as Staff Attorney for the Consumer Protection & Commerce Committee of the State of Hawaiʻi – House of Representatives; as a law clerk at both the First Circuit Court and the Intermediate Court of Appeals; and as a legal assistant at Cahill Gordon & Reindel in New York City. 

Becky is also a graduate of the Hawaiʻi State Bar Association (HSBA) 2010 Leadership Institute, and the Hawaiʻi Alliance for Progressive Action (HAPA) Spring 2017 Kuleana Academy. 

At Richardson, she enjoyed serving in leadership positions with the Jessup International Law Moot Court team; Asia-Pacific Law & Policy Journal; Pacific Asian Legal Studies Organization; Writing Board; Advocates for Public Interest Law; and the Filipino Law Students Association - as well as work as a Teaching Assistant for legal research and writing classes for 1L students, where she first developed a love for teaching law. 

She is currently serving in her second term on the Kaimuki Neighborhood Board; and is on the Board of Directors of the Hawaii Filipino Lawyers Association.  She is proud mother to two wonderful daughters attending public school.
