Richard "Dick" Mosher

  • Lecturer in Law

Dick Mosher’s 40+ years of legal and business experience have taught him that clients deserve accurate and timely legal advice, but the keys to establishing a long-lasting, trusting relationship include (a) listening and asking questions to understand client goals, priorities, and time constraints, (b) keeping clients informed, (c) managing work to a budget, and (d) providing necessary tactical, strategic, and practical advice. Large or small, every case is important to a client.

Dick’s practice includes an extremely wide variety of corporate work, civil litigation, regulatory compliance, employment and labor law (75+ EEOC trials) arbitration-mediation, business negotiation, mergers and acquisitions, policyholder insurance disputes and claim recovery, captive insurance, charter schools, intellectual property protection and licensing, and international joint ventures and strategic business alliances.

Dick worked for 30+ years as in-house General Counsel or Associate GC for Ball (including Aerospace, Agricultural and International), Maytag, Hoover, and Loctronix (wireless location technology) corporations and has advised small, large, start-up, public, private, and governmental organizations. He was a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney working with a Federal Task Force on identity theft.

Dick served as Chairman of the Hawaii State Bar Association Litigation, Business, and ADR Sections, and as a Board member of the International, Insurance, and Intellectual Property Sections. He is past Chairman of three national committees of the Association of Corporate Counsel, and on the Board of the Association of Conflict Resolution. He is also on the Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Oahu Chapter Board. Dick is a Hawaii Supreme Court appointed Arbitrator and Mediator.
