Financial Aid

OneIf you intend to apply for financial aid (Unsubsidized Stafford loan, GradPLUS loan, need-based scholarships and opportunity grants, and work-study), please file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year as early as possible.  It will became available on September 30 at 7:01 PM HST (October 1 at 1:01 AM EST). Need-based scholarships are awarded based upon eligibility, need, and the order of FAFSA applications received. The FAFSA requires information from the prior-prior tax year (e.g. admission in 2021-2022, submit 2019 tax information). Our federal school code is 001610. To add our school code to an existing FAFSA, click "Add a school" under "Returning User?".

  • Applicants: Do not wait to find out if you have been admitted or wait until you finalize your tax return before completing the FAFSA.
  • If you have never filed a FAFSA, you will need to create an FSA ID
  • When you have completed your FAFSA, you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). Check the accuracy of this report.

FAFSA Tips:

  • For law school, you are considered an independent and do not need to submit financial information from your parents in the dependency status section.
  • Interested in Federal Work Study? Be sure to indicate it on your FAFSA in the Student Demographics section. Law students are encouraged to consider library or research assistant positions.  RA positions provide a great opportunity for students to gain applicable skills they may apply to their careers while developing a one-on-one relationship with a professor.
