Part-Time Program
May I apply to both the full-time and part-time programs at the same time?
No. You may only apply to one program (full-time or part-time).
Is it easier to get into the part-time program?
No. Applicants to both programs must meet the same admissions criteria. There are 90 seats in the full-time program and 24 seats in the part-time program.
How many credits will I take each semester in the part-time program?
In the first two years of your program, we expect you to take approximately 10 credits per semester. If you choose, you may elect to take some courses in summer and some electives in your second year.
How long will it take to complete the part-time program?
If you take 10 credits per semester and some summer courses, you should finish in four to five years.
May I work while studying in the part-time program?
Yes. There are no restrictions on how much you work if you remain in the part-time program and take 11 credits or less. Full-time students taking 12 or more credits may not work more than twenty hours per week. Work demands are not permissible excuses for failing to meet the course requirements in either the full-time or part-time program.
What are the requirements for graduation?
You must meet the same graduation requirements as full-time law students do. See JD Degree Requirements.
May I visit another law school or study abroad?
Yes. After you complete the first year curriculum, you may visit another ABA-approved school or study abroad under the same conditions as full-time students do.
May I take courses during the day?
Yes. After you complete the first year curriculum (which part-time students usually do in two years), you may request to take courses during the day.
May I participate in student activities?
Yes. We want and fully expect you to enjoy the close-knit community of our law school. See Student Publications, Teams & Organizations.
Will I be eligible for career and student services?
Yes. All law school services will be available to you. We have evening hours and staff available to assist you.
