Class of 2022

Turner is a first-year law student and is looking forward to graduating in May 2022. She is a proud graduate of Punahou School. She also attended the University of Southern California where she double majored in International Relations and Mandarin Chinese. After graduating from USC, she was awarded a Fulbright fellowship and taught English in Taitung, Taiwan for one year. Last year, Turner moved home after five years away and interned at the Hawai‘i Immigrant Justice Center through Legal Aid. The impactful experience of helping victims of crime apply for immigration remedies led her to apply to the William S Richardson School of Law.

Students Speak

  • Richardson has provided opportunities for me I never dreamed possible. This law school truly cares about each individual student’s academic success.”
  • You get what you put in and UH delivers on those that are willing to put in the work.”
  • It is because Richardson allows me to obtain the legal knowledge to give back to my ‘ohana, kaiāulu, and lāhui, that I am able to remain rooted in who I am as a kanaka maoli.”
  • I was working at the Al Lawati law firm which provides legal service to Oman Oil in Oman. I had previously practiced law in Iran since 2001.”
  • The student body has been gracious and keeps a good balance between academics and social engagements.”
  • I chose UH Law because I wanted to experience studying in Hawaiʻi, and I learned that the School has an excellent Environmental Law program. My graduate degree fellowship with the East-West Center is also tied with enrollment at UH.”
  • The atmosphere at Richardson is filled with support, respect, and kindness that creates a truly unique law school experience. I am grateful that I am constantly surrounded by a community that has a desire to create change.”
  • I have been overwhelmed by the encouragement from other students and the faculty and the commitment to see every student thrive and succeed.”
  • Richardson is law school with the aloha spirit. A supportive community of students and faculty whose main goal is to better the state of Hawaii, the nation, and the world, through the legal profession.”
  • I chose UH because they offer a specialization in Criminal law. The other reason is the fact that I wanted to live in Hawai'i.”
