This course offers an opportunity for flexible-credit hour studies in and writing about legal issues in patient care, end of life decision-making and human research. The course will offer an interdisciplinary program of study focused on current legal developments for doctors, lawyers and researchers and includes the opportunity for joint classes with geriatric and psychiatry fellows as well as consumers at the medical school. Course options include individualized research and writing as well as selection among several experiential opportunities in the community to apply classroom knowledge to ethics deliberations, human research studies and patient education. The course is geared towards those who have had some prior experience in the health care field or to those who have taken Law, Aging and Medicine or Health Law: Bioethics courses at the law school.
