Notes

This innovative seminar will focus on the constitutional obligations of the federal and state governments to protect citizens and others within our borders in varied contexts. We will concentrate on the Fourteenth Amendment and on significant civil rights statutes, with additional attention to Hawai'i law. The seminar also will consider knotty issues in the relationship of rights and duties, paternalism and regulation, and federalism. Can be taken concurrently with LAW 533 - Constitutional Law I.
